Digital Marketing
What Is Digital Marketing?
Digital marketing is about reaching out to consumers through the Internet, mobile devices, social media, search engines, and other channels.
Some marketing experts consider digital marketing to be a completely new endeavor that requires a new way of reaching customers and a new way of understanding how consumers behave.
Understanding Digital Marketing
Digital marketing targets a specific segment of the customer base and also is interactive. Digital marketing is on the rise, and search results include ads, email ads, and promotional tweets - something that includes marketing, including customer feedback or two-way interactions between the organization and the customer.
Internet marketing is different from digital marketing. Internet marketing is advertising that only exists on the Internet, where digital marketing can happen through mobile devices, on a subway platform, in a video game, or through a smartphone app.
In the light of digital marketing, advertisers are usually identified as the source, while members of targeted ads are usually referred to as receivers. Sources often target highly precise, defined receivers. For example, after many of its locations have been extended until late at night, McDonald's needs to express this word. It targeted shift workers and travelers with digital ads because the company knew these people made up a large part of the business late at night. McDonald's encouraged ads in ATMs and gas stations to download a new restaurant finder app targeting their websites as well, and reported that its customers frequently visited at night.
Digital Marketing Channels
Website Marketing
A website is the hub of all digital marketing activities. Alone, it is a very powerful channel, but it is also a necessary medium for running various marketing campaigns. A website should present a brand, product, and service in a clear and memorable way. It should be mobile-friendly, fast, and easy to use.
Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Advertising
PPC enables advertisers to reach Internet users on a number of digital platforms through paid advertising. Marketers can continue to promote PPC on Google, Bing, LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest or Facebook and display their ads to people by searching for terms related to the product or service. PPC promotions can target categories (such as age or gender) or their specific interests or positions based on users' demographic characteristics. The most popular PPC platforms are Google ads and Facebook ads.
Content Marketing
The goal of content marketing is to reach potential customers through the use of content. Content is usually published on a website and then promoted through social media, email marketing, SEO, or PPC promotion. Content marketing tools include blogs, ebooks, online courses, infographics, podcasts, and webinars.
Email Marketing
Email marketing, still the most effective digital marketing channel. Many people confuse email marketing with spam email messages, but this is not the case with email marketing. Email marketing is a means of communicating with your potential customers or people interested in your brand. Most of the digital marketers use all other digital marketing channels to add leads to their email lists and then through email marketing, they create customer acquisition funnels to turn those leads into customers.
Social Media Marketing
The primary goal of a social media marketing campaign is to establish brand awareness and social trust. When you go deep into social media marketing, you can get these leads or even use them as a direct sales channel.
Affiliate Marketing
Approved marketing is one of the oldest forms of marketing and the internet has brought new life to this old standby. Through authorized marketing, influencers promote another person's products and receive a commission each time they sell or lead. Many reputable companies like Amazon have affiliate programs that pay millions of dollars per month on websites that sell their products.
Video Marketing
YouTube has become the second most popular search engine, and lots of users are turning to YouTube before they decide to buy, to learn something, to read a review, or just to relax. There are several video marketing platforms, including Facebook Video, Instagram, or Tiktok, to run video marketing campaigns. Companies find the greatest success with video by integrating it with SEO, content marketing, and broader social media marketing campaigns.
SMS Messaging
Companies and non-profit organizations also use SMS or text messages to send information about their latest promotions or to give interested customers a chance. As technology has advanced, many text-to-delivery promotions allow customers to deliver directly through a simple text message.
